Most people won’t do anything about their stress until their feel sick and burned out. This book provides specific steps for preventing further damage as well as fixing an overtaxed system so that it can work well for years to come.
All of us want to live for a long time and in good health, right? Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome by Dr. James Wilson will help you do something about it.
Hitting Your Stress Wall
When was the last time you were truly stress free?
When was the last time you didn’t feel overwhelmed most or all of the time by just being an adult?
Most adults are burned out, physically and mentally. Between work, relationships, family, kids, appointments, finances, social media, information overload, and politics, people are running at 100 miles an hour ALL OF THE TIME.
I watch people hit their limit all the time. There are some common signs. Everybody is different, but I usually see some combination of these signs:
- Get sick frequently and/or have trouble recovering from being sick.
- Fall or get hurt frequently. Have trouble recovering from injuries.
- Make mistakes often.
- Have trouble eating, sleeping, and digesting.
- Get tired quickly and easily, especially after 1pm.
- Have trouble with memory, concentration, and problem solving.
- Are moody, emotional, impatient, and easily irritated.
- Have constant body aches.
- Lack sex drive or interest in sex.
- Don’t feel better mentally or physically despite regular exercise and a healthy diet.
I tell them it’s coming. They know it’s coming.
We usually don’t believe we’re going to break down until it happens. By that point, our bodies have taken a beating. The weird symptoms aren’t getting better. Instead, they’re getting worse.
That’s when we hold our head in our hands and say, “I just can’t do this anymore” and really mean it.

Life doesn’t stop because you’re stressed. However, you have control over what you do for yourself.
I highly recommend the book Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome.
Your adrenal glands sit on top of your kidneys and produce your main stress hormone, cortisol. If you are stressed most or all of the time, you will release too much cortisol for too long. This much cortisol will make you body’s systems break down. In the last phase, no matter what you do, you feel awful. This is Adrenal Fatigue.
Despite this crash, you can still repair your adrenal glands if you take necessary steps ASAP.
This book has great suggestions for how to help your system recover. About 50% of the book contains stories about this doctor’s patients. You’ll probably see yourself and half the people you know in this book.
I strongly recommend you get this book and implement even just a few of the suggestions.
There are things I do daily such as sticking to a certain bed time, adjusting my salt intake, and changing exercise habits based on the recommendations. However, I don’t take any supplements.
If you buy one book about health this year, make it this one.
When I make healthy decisions about how I spend my energy and time, I’m better in every area of my life. The same goes for the people I work with.
